An In-Depth Guide to Online Casino Bonuses
Public Group active 1 year, 6 months agoIn the last decade, online gambling has experienced exponential growth. Today, it’s a multi-billion-dollar industry, whose incredible trajectory shows no signs of slowing. Now estimated to be worth $9.5 billion, it’s expected to expand by 11.7 percent per year between 2022 and 2030.
One of the reasons its popularity has grown so dramatically is down to the industry’s incredibly successful marketing tactics. Existing entirely online, internet casinos are dab hands at launching digital campaigns and have various ways to incentivize players into participating.
Bonuses are an obvious example, and there are lots of different types out there. If you’re a new player looking to make sense of them, here’s our handy guide to help you.
No-deposit bonuses
There are lots of reasons why internet providers might want to appeal to a wider audience. For example, new online casinos may wish to boost their visibility and grow their customer bases, hence launching attractive promotions and finding various reasons to be featured on review sites. With one of their primary tasks being to build trust among punters, they need to offer some incentive to try out their wares initially.
No-deposit bonuses are a great option. That’s because they’re super simple and easy to understand, making them vastly appealing to players. All you as a customer must do to qualify is register at the casino. Once this is done, money will be credited to your account (often automatically). The only drawback is that there may be limitations on how you use the funds – for example, a cap on the amount you can withdraw as winnings if you’ve only ever played using your no-deposit bonus.
Match bonuses
Match bonuses are also common. Unlike a no-deposit bonus, they do require you to cough up some funds initially, which are then matched by the casino. We’ll use an example. Let’s say the casino you want to use offers a 100 percent match bonus up to $100. If you deposit $100 into your account, it will actually be credited with $200. The downside is that match bonuses are rarely available to seasoned players, most commonly being used as an incentive to encourage new players to make their first deposit with the casino.
Free-money bonus
Unlike match bonuses, free money bonuses tend to be a set amount. This means that whether you deposit $20 or $100, the casino will reward you with the same sum. There’s often a minimum amount that you need to deposit to qualify. For example, a casino might offer you a free money bonus of $50 if you deposit $20 or more. This means that whether you credit $40 or $200 into your account, an additional $50 will be added to your total.
We’ve now covered the three most common types of bonuses, but there are a few more we want to briefly mention in passing. These are:
Sticky bonuses. This is when a casino offers you money to play with but only allows you to withdraw your winnings over and above the initial bonus amount. The bonus money is then taken out of your account if you make a withdrawal.
Exclusive bonuses. These can be slightly confusing because they can fall under the umbrella of any other type of bonus listed here. The difference is they’re only available to certain players or on particular websites.
Loyalty bonuses. Again, any type of bonus may be classed as a loyalty bonus, but it will only be available to players who’ve demonstrated their loyalty in some way i.e. by placing a certain number of bets or playing for a set length of time.
As you can see from our guide, there are lots of different types of bonuses out there, and all of them can be beneficial to players. By understanding them, you can make sure you’re getting the best possible deal the next time you take advantage.
